PFSC Holds Annual Pre-CNY Gathering Run

The Penang Forward Sports Club (PFSC) successfully organised its annual pre-Chinese New Year (CNY) Gathering Run at Bukit Dumbar, reaffirming its deep connection to the place where the club was first established.

The meaningful tradition, held every year ahead of the festive season, drew strong participation from members, the public and community groups.

Bukit Dumbar holds special significance for PFSC as the birthplace of the club. By returning to its roots each year, the organisation continues to emphasise unity, remembrance, and appreciation of its journey while promoting healthy living and social cohesion.

The run aimed not only to encourage fitness and fellowship but also to provide participants an opportunity to rediscover iconic attractions within George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Organisers noted that many of these popular locations are often crowded with tourists, leaving locals with limited chances to enjoy them during normal days. The early-morning run allowed participants to experience the city in a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.

This year’s event was further strengthened by the presence and support of the club’s honorary advisor, Penang State EXCO YB Lim Siew Khim, who is also the constituency assemblywoman. Her attendance added significance to the occasion and underscored the strong partnership between PFSC and the community.

Residents from Silver Jubilee Home also joined the celebration, sharing the festive Chinese New Year spirit with runners and volunteers. The event additionally welcomed visiting runner# from China, who were in Penang for holidays. He expressed admiration for the city’s beauty at dawn and appreciation for PFSC’s dedication to community service and social responsibility.

In his welcoming remarks, PFSC Chairman Dato Lim Choo Hooi thanked participants for their enthusiastic turnout in the early hours of the morning. He also expressed gratitude to volunteers and organising teams whose careful planning ensured the smooth success of the event. He highlighted PFSC’s ongoing commitment to serving society through sports, charity, and community engagement.

YB Lim Siew Khim commended PFSC for its unwavering social commitment and praised the leadership of Chairman. She described the club as a role model organisation that consistently promotes healthy activities while actively contributing to charitable causes and community welfare.

The annual Pre-CNY Gathering Run once again demonstrated PFSC’s enduring mission — fostering health, unity, cultural celebration, and service to the community — while honouring the club’s origins at Bukit Dumbar.

槟城前进体育会新春团跑回归发源地武吉南玛，凝聚社区情谊

槟城前进体育会（PFSC）日前成功举办一年一度的农历新年前团聚跑活动，地点选在具有特殊意义的武吉南玛（Bukit Dumbar）——该会的发源地。此项传统活动在新春来临前举行，获得会员、公众及社区人士的踊跃支持与参与。

武吉南玛作为体育会成立之地，承载着深厚的历史与情感。每年回到这里举办团跑，象征不忘本源、饮水思源，同时也传承团结与奋斗精神。

主办方表示，此次团跑不仅旨在提倡健康生活方式与会员之间的交流，也希望让参与者有机会在清晨时分重新认识乔治市这座世界文化遗产城市的著名景点。由于这些地点平日游客众多，本地居民难得有机会悠闲造访，而清晨的路线安排让大家得以在宁静舒适的氛围中感受城市之美。

今年活动也获得该会名誉顾问——槟州行政议员兼当地州议员林秀琴的到场支持，为活动增添光彩。此外，槟威银禧老人院银发族们也参与其中，共同感受浓厚的新春气氛。

活动亦迎来了来自中国的游客跑者，他趁假期来到槟城，特别参与此次团跑，对乔治市清晨的美景深感赞叹，并对体育会长期服务社区的精神表示感动与敬佩。

体育会主席拿督林子辉在致词时感谢大家清晨踊跃出席，并向所有筹备活动的义工与团队致以谢意。他指出，此类活动不仅促进健康，也体现体育会回馈社会、服务社区的宗旨。

林秀琴行政议员在致词中表示，对体育会长期以来展现的社会责任精神深受感动，并赞扬主席多年来不遗余力地协助社区。她称赞槟城前进体育会为典范团体，持续推动健康活动的同时，也不忘慈善与公益。

一年一度的新春团聚跑再次展现了槟城前进体育会团结、健康、关怀社会及传承文化的使命，同时向其发源地武吉南玛致敬。
